George Park is a multi-disciplinary textile designer and garment maker, born in Ōtepoti (Dunedin) and based out of Meeanjin (Brisbane). His background in tailoring and production has been the foundation of his label Mercury. Launched in 2024 – Mercury offers a process-driven approach to making clothing. The name Mercury is derived from the saying ‘(to be) of a mercurial nature’, an indication of a strong willingness to change or adapt, to be open-minded, and accepting of change. Collaboration is also an anchor to the label, which has brought him to ĀHUA – working with Emma Muir, owner of Rhoda Nunn.

Mark of the Maker is a seasonless, ready-to-wear collection, produced in collaboration between Emma Muir of Rhoda Nunn, and George Park of Mercury. A slowed approach, natural fibres, unique finishes, complete transparency and versatility in wear. The collection is an extension of the pair’s intuitive, free-formed design processes, and establishes itself as a different insight into making + producing clothing – one that isn’t particularly popularised by the fashion industry. The key concept for the show is to highlight the role of the maker in an industry that often overshadows, even erases the existence of hands in the manufacture of garments. Pay attention to the details in construction and design, as it is here that you will find the footprints left by the makers in the sands of the clothing. The collection offers a deeper connection between the maker and their craft, reflecting the quiet power of design and craftsmanship. It’s a celebration of the artistry behind fashion and the transformative impact of thoughtful, intentional creation.

George’s runway collection will be presented as part of Te Wiki Āhua O Aotearoa FW25 ‘Mark of of The Maker’ showing on March 28th 6:00pm Get tickets
